Surprising 20

20 Suspensions

That is ...
the number of suspensions used in one large-capacity hard disc drive (HDD)

The numerous special springs that support "convenient lives".

HDD suspensions are special springs that control magnetic data reading/writing positions on a disc.

In line with the growing demand for large-capacity HDDs in data centers resulting from expansion in social media and video distribution services, tens of millions of HDDs are shipped every year. These large-capacity HDDs use a lot of these springs, sometimes more than 20 in a single unit.

These tiny products may not look like springs, however, they are indispensable components that support everybody's precious data behind the scenes.

NHK Spring's suspensions account for the number-one share in the world.
