The speed of steel balls in shot peening of suspension springs

The tireless pursuit of higher durability

One of the technologies used to enhance the strength and durability of automobile suspension springs is shot peening, a process which entails shooting small steel balls onto the springs at high speed. Doing this makes the surface become translucent and uneven, dramatically improving the spring life. NHK Spring introduced this technology in the early 1950's, and has since strived to improve the durability of its springs by conducting repeated R&D. NHK Spring's "strong and unbreakable springs" are the result of tireless efforts and core technologies cultivated over many years.
